. christie smith is live at albany where a memorial grew overnight for james izumizaki. a loft emotions flying out there, christie. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, jon. yeah, this is a tragic end to just a terrible situation. i spoke with one dad off camera. he said that his daughter is a student here and has been home crying since she heard the news. there are flowers as candles and notes in front of albany middle school this morning. most of the notes seem to be from student athletes, saying they love and miss their coach. the alameda county sheriff says a family member found james izumizaki dead in his car yesterday in san lorenzo. he was just 28 years old. his death being investigated as a suicide. he was a sixth grade teacher here and a volleyball coach, a basketball coach, very popular. students say he always went the extra mile for them. but last week he was arrested, accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a former student. the school will inform the student body today of his death but word is already spreading out there, especially on social media.

on thursday morning as chris christie said with a completely different campaign? >> i think all the debates are important but particularly this one because it's on domestic policy which is the critical issue in the race and the first times that americans will get to see mitt romney and barack obama side by side. not only hear their words and assess their styles and their candor, but also get to hear the ideas. i think that's what this whole race comes down to, is the record. i would say the failed record of barack obama on jobs, on gas prices, on debt management, on energy and compare that to the vision and the ideas for the future that mitt romney has. it's very important. the last couple weeks there's been a little bit of a movement for the president. but listen, speeches don't create jobs. rhetoric doesn't create jobs. good ideas do. and the president, despite his efforts, has failed to help the american people get back to work and i think mitt romney has better ideas. that's what this debate will be about. >> business crill crystal and o republicans have questioned whether mitt romney h
